"The Role of the Leader in Literacy" Training
The Missouri Reading Initiative feels that strong administrative leadership is an integral part of the successful implementation of comprehensive literacy at a school site.
Administrators in participating Missouri Reading Initiative schools must engage in specific literacy training for 4 days throughout the school year. Topics covered include defining the role of leadership in an MRI school, understanding the necessary components of a comprehensive literacy program, how to best support teachers as they deliver optimal literacy instruction, how to observe MRI classroom implementation through a walkthrough process, and how to use data to determine the literacy needs of students in order to best plan for school improvement.
