Kae Daugherty

Kae began her journey in education with her undergraduate degree from Southwest Baptist University. Later she earned certification as a Library/Media Specialist and also completed her master’s degree from Missouri State University. At the beginning of her career, she taught Kindergarten through grade 3 and was able to loop with her students which according to Kae, “was a highlight of her first years of teaching.” After several years as a library/media specialist, Kae returned to the classroom as an eighth grade ELA teacher where she realized students (and other teachers) needed support in reading informational text in science and social studies classes. Kae provided PD on this topic for the teachers in her school which then led to her working as a trainer/literacy strategist for Missouri Reading Initiative with secondary ELA, science, social studies, and CTE teachers.
